Fundraiser

Sorry I haven't been very active on Blogger lately.  It's Canning Season, which is to say all the fruit and veggies come in at once this time of year and my entire life suddenly revolves around a paring knife and hot kettle.

Once again I'm participating in CareNet's Walk for Life fundraiser.  CareNet is our local pregnancy crisis center, and the idea of the walk is to get people to sponsor you to raise money for the center, but also to raise awareness of the needs of those facing unplanned pregnancies, and the fact that the center is there to help.  (Lets face it, they can't do a lot to help people if no one knows they're there.)   If anyone's interested in donating, here is a link.  If you'd like to know more about CareNet here is the homepage.

I hope you all have a great week.

  1. Canning does kind of take over, doesn't it? The main stuff like that my family did was one kind of jelly and one kind of jam. Fortunately, they were from different plants that fruited at different times of years. Still, we regularly ended up with pots taking over the stove, and for the jelly, a squeezing setup involving two kitchen chairs, a broom, our largest pot, and a big cloth bag filled with fruit that managed to make getting around rather difficult. {Amused Smile}

    Unfortunately, it got to be too much for my parents after a while, and I didn't feel up to taking over the entire job by myself. I kind of miss it. {wistful Smile}

  2. Funny how that happens. I bailed on the canning while I was in college and I actually kind of missed it too, even though I always complained about doing it. The chairs, broom and cloth bag sound like a great macgyverism for jelly making. We usually do jam and just blend up fruit. I'm in charge of the canning this year so we're not putting up as much as we do when mom heads up the job, but it's still enough that I'm perpetually exhausted. :)
