I know what you mean. In my case, add "can't find the patterns and don't have the skill to make without." I do sew, and can even do some very minor additions and alterations to commercial patterns. Still, what I am able to sew and what I'd like to sew... have a bit of a gap between them. {wistful Smile}
Yeah. Know the feeling. I pretty much don't sew. (I do embroider a little). The sewing machine has a grudge against me. The thread likes to snap, and I can't re-thread it without help.
Threading can be tricky. I just finished working on a slightly heavy thread and a needle with a rather small eye. This was a terrible combination each time I needed to thread the thing. It either wanted to miss entierly, or unravel the thread enough ot let only a third of it thru. I was so glad to be finished with it! {SMILE}
My worst problame with sewing machines is that most run away with me. That was bad enough, my parents got me an old style treadle machine. I hoped it would go more slowly. It doesn't really go much more slowly. However, the speed of the cloth is directly enough related to how fast I pump the treadle, it still helps. I wish it would help with threading, too, but I can't have everything. {Smile}
That sounds really cool, having an old fashioned tredle machine. (Though I suppose it would make your foot tired eventually.) I can see how that would give you more control over the machine, even if it doesn't actually slow it down that much. :)
Yes, I think the treadle machine is neat, too. {Smile}
As long as I keep the machine well-oiled, by the time my legs get tired, I'm ready for a break anyway. It really does help me know how quickly to move the cloth. While I was trying to use Mom's electric, I kept having the cloth go faster than I was ready for it to. I'm delighted that this machine solves that problem for me. {SMILE}
Having things in good repair definitely helps. :) Knowing when to take a break is harder than it sounds, so its nice the machine solves that one, too. :)
Yes, having things in good condition can make quite a difference. I never thought of the problem about knowing when to take a break, but you're right. It's kind of nice to have a machine that reminds me before I start making too many mistakes because I'm tired. {SMILE}
She's pretty! I like how she's all dressed up. {SMILE}
ReplyDeleteFluffy dresses are so much fun to draw. My characters end up with rediculously huge wardrobes as a result. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you enjoy drawing all those dresses, great. I'm sure the girls all appreciate the variety in their wardrobes. {wink, BIG SMILE}

All the lovely lovely clothes that I can't actually find in the real world. :)
