He's careful not to glorify fighting, which makes his writing so much more realistic.Chicoryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16504144663440678542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3265566975813453385.post-78390275805502312672011-05-31T00:41:08.761-07:002011-05-31T00:41:08.761-07:00Oh yes, I've read the Westmark/Beggar Queen tr...Oh yes, I've read the Westmark/Beggar Queen trilogy. I happened to read them at the right time for them to shape my feelings about war and portrayal of madness particularly strongly. {Smile}

Yes, I noticed how many of the characters don't make it in that one. I think fewer characters make than don't. I still love the trilogy. Like I said, I first encountered at the right time in life. {smile}

Anne Elizabeth BaldwinAnnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05083766769757259822noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3265566975813453385.post-73204177403929403692011-05-29T17:29:40.708-07:002011-05-29T17:29:40.708-07:00Have you ever read the Westmark Trilogy? I think Lloyd Alexander enjoys making you like characters and then killing them off.Chicoryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16504144663440678542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3265566975813453385.post-50448827989461691472011-05-29T13:12:39.880-07:002011-05-29T13:12:39.880-07:00Yes, I just finished the Prydain Chronicles. I shed a few tears thru that one. {Smile}

I've been busy, too. I do. I have a hard time reading the last book at all, actually. (Sniff.) Sorry it took so long to reply. I do like characters who aren't afraid, like Taran in the early Chronicles on Prydain. Yet... by The High King, he's not quite as comfortable with it. I think his finally-found reticence adds a little depth there. {Smile}

(1 guess which series I finished re-reading a few weeks ago. {Smile, wink})

Anne Elizabeth BaldwinAnnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05083766769757259822noreply@blogger.com
